It’s been dark in the mornings. Really dark. The fires have been ravaging California and smoke clouds our landscape. It’s been tough to get up the last few mornings. I knew I needed something extra–more than just a gallon of coffee (although that does help!) So I dug out something that helped me before…a coach. Enter Mel Robbins with her fantastic Audiobook The 5 Second Rule for some straight talk and in your face coaching.
I can’t recommend it enough. I can really relate to the segment when she talks about hitting the snooze button. It’s a hard habit to break.
This book helped me a lot at a time when I felt like I needed to push myself to do things I was having resistance with. Cleaning, writing, working out. You name it.
She has a new book out, KICKASS, that is exclusive to Audible. It was really different than this one. She does the tough talks in those one-on-one coaching sessions. The person getting coached inevitably cries. It’s pretty eyeopening. So if you’ve already enjoyed the 5 Second Rule, then you might enjoy this new one.
I was blown away the insight that Mel displayed in assessing what it was that was holding each person back. Some of the stories were incredibly moving.
If you haven’t seen it, you should give her Ted talk a look. Hang in there friends. Winter is coming, but it doesn’t have to be scary.
Sounds like a good Audiobook. Sometimes it seems like my get up and go has got up and left.
I know what you mean. Some days I fall into the camp of “I know what I need to be doing…but I can’t bring myself to do it.” The 5 second rule has helped a lot with that inertia.
