*Year round shorts guy can skip to the bottom for when I discuss my sourdough starter!

Some of you are essential workers. You probably wear your normal work clothes. Some of us who are in that gray area (real estate, finance, law), can have essential business transactions but have been sitting at home in our pajama bottoms or yoga pants 80% of the week. But it’s been 6 weeks of Shelter-in-Place and the end is in sight. Maybe it’s time to upgrade our loungewear. Or if you’re like me, you’ve just decided your yoga pants were fine when it was chilly but now it’s warming up and you need something lighter. My carb loading of the last 6 weeks probably didn’t lend itself to a restrictive waistband. Thank god for elastic.

Phase 1 – Pants Upgrade – relying on elastic

Enter the linen pants with a waistband and a drawstring. $25-30 from Amazon Basics. I bought it in 3 colors. Problem solved. Now when I go into the office I am not a complete slob (I go in once a week to pick up and scan mail, deal with bills, etc.), but have taken baby steps to formal work wear.

When you wear them, you can pretend you are at a resort in a tropical location, sipping a mai tai. Or you can just enjoy having pants that have elastic band and pockets but not feel like a slob. Added benefit, when you accidentally stand up during your Zoom call, you still look presentable.

Phase 2 – When you’re ready for a waistband that isn’t elastic:

A drapey top and for people who like skirts – a poufy skirt that hides everything, but has pockets. Or a kilt.

Maybe you need a kilt!

*Ok, so like everyone else in the world, I’ve been growing a sourdough starter. The kids named him Baby Chungus. Baby Chungus is 29 days old and doing great. He’s fluffy, yet sticky. Has lots of gas. Very elastic. You can see all the photos on my instagram feed. Today we make butter sourdough sandwich biscuits with the discard. This recipe. Wish me luck!!! Neighbors are dying for some sourdough so I may be bartering for fresh eggs next!!!
